Yoga teacher training in India - week 5

It is already the second last week in Rishikesh . It started to set in that we will not be here forever and I found myself feeling more present in my experience this week. We began to teach each other and had some awesome workshop themes, including Tantra, Thai Yoga massage, Chinese Medicine and foot massage, Creating healthy lifestyles and essential oils, Ayurveda, Prenatal Yoga, Critical thinking to apply yogic knowledge, studying the Sacro Iliac Joint, releasing emotions through hip opening and awakening love with Kundalini Yoga. All my fellow 300 hour yoga teacher trainers have so much to offer and it was nice to be given the opportunity to learn from everyone. In the Tantra workshop, we learned that Tantra is about balancing Shiva and Shakti (masculine and feminine) energy. It is a way to see the spark and eternal flame in your partner not just the being in front of you. There is left hand tantra and right hand tantra. The ultimate goal is right hand tantra which is th

500-hour yoga teacher training in India We have made it through one month of our yoga teacher training in India . I feel so close with all of my fellow students, we all release a lot this week and the energy feels much lighter now. I personally have shifted a lot since being here and am back in a space of feeling grateful and present for each moment in India. Rishikesh is a holy city and is fully vegetarian. I am a vegetarian and it is nice to know that there is not any meat being prepared anywhere here. It is like a different world, a world that is connected to nature. Living in oneness with nature keeps things real. Sometimes I look around and see the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains and see a monkey and think wow, here I am, in Rishikesh. It is so surreal! If you visit India take advantage of all the amazing ayurvedic products you can buy here for so cheap and definitely get yourself some treatments! I had the most amazing massage yesterday where they pour oil

Yoga Teacher Training in India - Week 3

Image
After three weeks of intense yoga teacher training things came up for me literally and metaphorically. I feel that I have grown more this week than I thought possible. I got sick and for anyone traveling anywhere in India, I recommend taking a probiotic, oil of oregano and a wellness formula daily. Emotions come up while traveling in India and it truly is a beautiful healing process. If we don’t ever look at any of the old energy we are holding onto we can’t heal it. I will be the first to admit that it does not always feel good to look at your old beliefs and emotions. But the journey to enlightenment is all about shining light on old beliefs that no longer work, as hard as it may feel at times, so I am truly grateful for this experience. Deep healing was the intention that I set for this training; and you know what they say, ask and you shall receive. The weather cooled off and it began to rain this week and I feel that the plants are happy; it is lush and green here. Betw

Yoga teacher training in India at  Rishikesh  - RYS 200, 500 . I arrived in Rishikesh seven days ago to join the 300 hour hatha yoga teacher training in India . I came here with a purpose of self-healing and to deepen my yoga practice and knowledge. I did not expect that I was about to meet so many amazing new friends. I have never been surrounded by so many beautiful souls. The people who work here and all the students here are absolutely lovely.   Being in the yoga capital of the world on the Ganges River at the foothills of the Himalayas is truly magical. I feel right at home here and can sense a genuine, loving and open vibe from everyone I meet. We start the day bright and early with morning tea and sinus cleansing using a neti pot, which can feel awkward the first time but it really cleans out your sinuses so you can breathe! After cleansing our sinuses we go up for morning practice, then breakfast with a lot of fresh fruit followed by theory class. In theory

Yoga Dreams - Why I Decided to Go to India

Image
I showed up to my first yoga class when I was 16 years old. I can’t remember what got me interested enough at such a young age to pursue it, but I kept showing up every week for more. I think the teacher liked me because I was so young, by far the youngest in her classes. One thing I will always take away from these beginning days are the loving smile and support of my very first yoga teacher, and her wonderfully relaxing savasanas topped off with Bergamot-infused shoulder and neck alignments. That smell is still nostalgic for me today. I found yoga to be a magical, happy place where anything lingering on my mind would melt away and my body and breath came to life like a well-oiled machine. It was nurturing, honest, luminous. I felt whole. Over the years, I’ve relocated a few times and explored many yoga studios and teachers. I’ve recently deepened my practice and begun to create my own routines at home, infusing them with meditation and energy practices. For the majority of

Importance of Breath in Yoga

Image
Yoga is being seen more and more as a means of merely exercising the body and keeping it slim. Breathing which is the most important aspect of traditional yoga like hatha yoga is being overlooked. Without breathing in the correct way when undergoing yoga asanas the benefits of the asana will only be superficial. Breath is the vital force that energizes the body. It helps to harmonize the body, mind, and spirit and when all three aspects are in harmony then healing and immunity will ensue naturally. Somehow we have forgotten how to breathe in a deep and beneficial way through the belly. We all breathe in a shallow way and through the chest. This does not bring oxygenated breath to the lungs fully and so does not circulate in the body with energy. Yoga in Rishikesh, India Besides the physical benefits, breath is the source that can take us to through that space where peace is supreme and this can only be achieved through the correct method of breathing which makes us awar

Stress-free Workplace With Yoga

Image
The corporate environment is bristling with the stress that comes from having to meet deadlines, making a deal or just office politics or it could be related to stressful situations like traffic congested roads or home and work balance issues. Physical health problems could arise from constantly bending over computers or sitting for long hours at the desk. Executives need to be in a relaxed frame of mind to be productive. This is the reason that corporate bosses are now encouraging regular wellness programs in the office which includes relaxation techniques and regular yoga practice that will bring mental relief, health benefits and raise energy levels. Corporate yoga is now of age and yoga packages are being designed exclusively for office personnel. The yoga kriyas are such that they can be done in work clothes and besides the office desk easily and without yoga mats.   Yoga trained teachers who have corporate yoga experience are now being sought out by businesses who want

Yoga in Rishikesh

Image
The picturesque town of Rishikesh has some of the best yoga schools in India. The reason for this, simply put, is that the lower Himalayas form a soothing backdrop that augments the practice of yoga on the banks of the Ganges River. This spiritual town offers the right atmosphere for it inspires yoga enthusiasts to immerse themselves in a spiritual quest and meditation like many of the great Yoga Masters who have found this town to be conducive to yoga practice.   Yoga is a vast field and does not just involve removing toxins from the body but much more. Before you apply for yoga teachers training you must understand that yoga is a science that has evolved over hundreds of years and so it cannot be mastered in a day. Learning asanas could be easy but purifying energy through breath control and conquering the wandering mind need dedicated daily practice. So when you think of coming to Rishikesh, India for Yoga teacher training you need to understand well why you are here.
